I'm Amy. This is a space for me as an Artist, Teacher, and Explorer to share with you my little corner of the world.

Please explore the 'In the Classroom' tab to see a variety of artworks across all ages, created by my AMAZING students.

ABOUT ME!

I am currently teaching at GEMS Dubai American Academy, and it's been an exciting challenge diving into a brand-new curriculum! One of the best parts? I’ve been able to focus on printmaking, a passion of mine, and even develop a sustainable printmaking course. It’s been incredibly rewarding to explore this medium in depth and bring it to life for my students. I even incorporated printmaking into my application for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (sadly rejected this time—but there’s always next year!).

Before Dubai, I taught at Britannica International School in Budapest, where I had the joy of working with amazing students and zhuzhing up my art room to feel like home. It was my intention to create a space where my students felt happy, safe and included,  Prior to that, I spent seven years as a Visual Arts and Design Thinking teacher at The British International School of Houston, helping shape the curriculum for a brand-new, state-of-the-art campus.

It probably goes without saying, but I love being creative—both in and outside the classroom. I work with paint, mixed media, and illustration and have created commissions for weddings, offices, and more. I also make a point of visiting galleries wherever I travel, from the Guggenheim in Venice to the Hermitage in Russia. Some of my favorite exhibitions have been Yayoi Kusama, Ron Mueck, Fiona Rae, and Cy Twombly.

Beyond art, I love taking classes myself (it’s always good to remember what it’s like to be a student!), reading fantasy, sci-fi, and crime novels, exercising, cooking, and traveling. This year alone, I’ve been lucky enough to visit Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Japan, with Thailand next on the list! I also love being outdoors—walking, exploring new landscapes, and just soaking in nature. Since moving to the UAE, I’ve found myself really missing rain and thunderstorms, but the adventure of discovering new places definitely makes up for it. I also can’t resist live music and have been lucky enough to attend festivals like Sziget in Budapest and Voodoo Fest in New Orleans.

Let's see where my next adventure takes me...
